Mr. Leonidas Daravelis is the Director in the Information Technology & Telecommunications (IT&T) Business Unit of Athens International Airport (AIA).

He holds Diploma Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Patras in Greece and an MSc Degree in Digital Communication Systems from the Loughborough University of Technology in UK.

He has more than 20 years experience in IT and Telecommunication industry in leading Hellenic Companies. He joined AIA in 1998, actively participated in the IT&T project management contributed to the successful airport opening (March 2001). Currently has the responsibility for the IT&T Business Unit reporting to the Chief Operations Officer (COO) of AIA.
He is a member of the Board of Executives (BoE) of AIA. Finally, he is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece and the Hellenic Management Association.

Mike spent his early years as a pilot in the Royal Air Force before moving into civil aviation. He has thirty years experience in airline and airport operations and has spent twenty-two of those years in various roles with Manchester Airport.

His responsibilities have included security matters since 1993 and he has been closely involved in developing new security and customer service strategies to meet changing threat and regulatory situations.

Manchester Airport was the first airport in the world to deploy CT x-ray technology integrated into its baggage systems and the only airport, to date, to invest in the potential of next-generation real-time tomography (RTT) technology.

The deployment of these and other cutting-edge technologies have contributed to managing the impact of the changing security regime on airport operations and customer service.

Mike currently manages customer services in Manchester Airport’s three passenger terminals with 1,400 directly employed staff of which 800 are security staff.

Jeroen van Vliet has jointed KLM in 1996. He started his career in the IT department. After an interesting experience in Ground Operations for KLM he jointed KLM Security Services in 2005. Jeroen is now Deputy Senior Vice President of KLM Security Services, Director of KLM Security Operations and Member of Air France – KLM Security Management Team. KLM Security Services has an essential role in safeguarding the continuity of the KLM Group by managing physical and intrinsic risks. As Director of Security Operations his main responsibilities are compliance and implementation of security regulations within the company, the 24 hour security operation for KLM and internal investigations.

Alan’s career in border control has been extensive. He has undertaken a range of operational, policy and managerial posts in the UK and worked overseas supervising visa operations. For almost two decades, Alan has been closely involved in international work. He represents UKBA at the International Civil Aviation Organisation and their Facilitation Panel. He is a member of the IATA Passenger Experience initiative and the IATA Control Authorities Working Group. He is also currently chair of the European Civil Aviation Conference sub-group on immigration.

Alan was awarded the MBE in 2009 for public and voluntary service.

He is now a full member of the Bmibaby board with direct responsibility for all ground activities in all Bmibaby destinations along with responsibility for all cabin crew activities including in-flight sales.

George R. Centeno is the Chief of Airport Police for Los Angeles World Airports. He oversees the operation of the Police Organization’s four major offices: Support Services, Patrol Services, Traffic & Security and Homeland Security & Intelligence. With more than 1,200 sworn and civilian employees at airports in Los Angeles, Ontario, and Van Nuys, Chief Centeno commands the nation’s largest aviation law enforcement agency.

His educational credentials include a Bachelor of Arts Degree from California State University at Northridge. He is also a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Chief Centeno is credentialed with a Management Certificate from the California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training.

Philanthropically, Chief Centeno is a member of the Hispanic Command Officers Association and a past Executive Director of the Police Activities League for young adults.

Prior to his appointment in 2007 as the fourth person to hold the title of Chief of Police, Chief Centeno was with the Santa Monica Police Department for 28 years, where he ascended to the rank of lieutenant before his retirement in 2004. During his tenure he had operational command of several divisions, including SWAT, Traffic Enforcement and Internal Affairs. Chief Centeno's extensive experience in law enforcement includes a strong background in community relations as well as administrative assignments. Chief Centeno was instrumental in planning and overseeing security for the 2000 Democratic National Convention for the City of Santa Monica.

Chief Centeno’s coordination and partnering of the police and the community in Santa Monica resulted in achieving continual reductions in crime to the lowest level in City history while he commanded the department’s “special policing district.” Chief Centeno was also decorated twice during his tenure for extraordinary and meritorious service, receiving both the “Medal of Courage” and a “Life Saving Award.”

Chief Centeno is a proven leader in working with diverse multi-jurisdictional agencies. His intricate knowledge of the National Incident Command System is an attribute of great importance in coordinating the day-to-day and emergency operations of the several layers of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies at LAX.

Craig Lynes serves as the Transportation Security Administration Representative (TSAR)/Attaché for the United Kingdom, Ireland, Iceland and Greenland, resident in the U.S. Embassy, London. The Transportation Security Administration Representative/Attaché position is within the International Operations Directorate of the Office of Global Strategies (OGS) at Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

Previous to this position, Craig served as the Branch Manager for the International Air Carrier Program, Global Policy and Programs Directorate within the Office of Global Strategies. Prior to coming to TSA Headquarters, Craig was posted in Europe from 2004 to 2008 where he held the position of International Industry Representative (IIR) (formerly known as International Principal Security Inspector (IPSI)), covering foreign air carriers in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East at both the Brussels and Frankfurt International Field Offices.

As the Branch Manager, Mr. Lynes managed the agency’s International Industry Representatives (IIRs) located throughout the world; from Frankfurt, Singapore, Dallas, and Miami. As an IIR/IPSI, he managed over forty foreign air carriers, both passenger and all-cargo and was responsible for the review of security programs, dissemination of TSA security requirements, oversight of the implementation of the TSA security requirements and the receipt and dissemination of security and intelligence information. He has previously served as the TSA IPSI in Los Angeles covering the foreign air carriers in Asia Pacific as well as Canada.

Prior to joining the TSA, Mr. Lynes has acted as a Federal Aviation Administration Supervisory Civil Aviation Security Inspector at the Western Pacific Regional Office and was a Civil Aviation Security Inspector at both the Los Angeles and San Francisco International Airports.

Mr. Lynes holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University as well as being a graduate of San Jose State University with a bachelor’s degree in Science in Aviation, Flight Operations and minors in Science and Business. He is also a pilot with commercial multi and single-engine land airplane certificates with instrument ratings.

David Trembaczowski-Ryder joined ACI-Europe in February 2010 as Senior Policy Manager responsible for aviation security issues. David is a retired UK Royal Air Force wing commander and ex-fast jet navigator/weapon system operator, with a whole career in the aviation and security field.

Previous appointments include the UK Permanent Representation (UKREP) to the European Union as a senior military adviser on European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP), the EU Council General Secretariat dealing with ESDP organisational structures and policy and CEO/Station Commander of Gibraltar Airfield, where he was responsible for all aspects of the airfield operations, which included significant security related challenges. He has also worked in several NATO and national appointments.

David holds a BSc (Hons) in Economics and is a graduate of the Royal Air Force Staff College and the European Security and Defence College.
